Zhang Sanfeng

Zhang Sanfeng (3) is a legendary Taoist figure widely credited with founding Tai Chi (A)-a Chinese martial art renowned for its emphasis on internal strength, balance, and harmony with nature. Born in 1247 in what is now Liaoning province, Zhang’s life is surrounded by myth, including tales of a mystical birth and healing from a vision-related illness through Taoist teachings. His lifelong quest for enlightenment led him across China, where he eventually studied under the Taoist master Huolong Zhen Ren and attained spiritual awakening at Wudang Mountain.
