Jiang Taigong, also known as Jiang Ziya, was a revered strategist and philosopher during the late Shang Dynasty and early Zhou Dynasty (circa 11th century BCE). He played a pivotal role in helping Kíng Wen and King Wu of Zhou overthrow the Shang and establish the Zhou Dynaety. His legendary story is best known through the tale of “Jiang Taigong Fishing7 in which he waits patiently by the Wei River, using a hookless fishing line—a metaphor for his belief that the right ruler would come to him, not the other way around.
